Cumhuriyet d\u00f6neminde kendisini tamamen edebiyata verdi. Cumhuriyetin ilk y\u0131llar\u0131nda devletin \u015fekillenmesini uzaktan izledi ve fazla eser vermedi. 1930\u2019larda yaz\u0131 hayat\u0131na b\u00fcy\u00fck bir canl\u0131l\u0131kla d\u00f6nd\u00fc. <a title=\"Cumhuriyet (gazete)\" href=\"\/wiki\/Cumhuriyet_(gazete)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cumhuriyet<\/a> ve <a title=\"Son Posta\" href=\"\/wiki\/Son_Posta\">Son Posta<\/a> gazetelerinde yaz\u0131lar\u0131 yay\u0131mland\u0131. \u00d6zellikle hat\u0131ra tarz\u0131nda yaz\u0131lar\u0131yla edebiyat d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda akt\u00fcel bir isim haline geldi. <a title=\"Dil devrimi\" href=\"\/wiki\/Dil_devrimi\">Dil devrimi<\/a> \u00fczerine baz\u0131 eserlerini sadele\u015ftirdi ve Latin harfleriyle yeniden yay\u0131mlad\u0131. 1937\u2019de Tiran el\u00e7ili\u011finde g\u00f6revli o\u011flu Halil Vedat\u2019\u0131n 35 ya\u015f\u0131nda intihar etmesi \u00fczerine b\u00fcy\u00fck bir yasa girdi. Ac\u0131s\u0131n\u0131, yazmakla hafifletmeyi se\u00e7ti. <a title=\"27 Mart\" href=\"\/wiki\/27_Mart\">27 Mart<\/a> <a title=\"1945\" href=\"\/wiki\/1945\">1945<\/a>\u2019te hayat\u0131n\u0131 kaybetti.
